The University of National and World Economy (UNWE) is one of the leading higher education institutions in Bulgaria that boasts years of experience in integrating inclusive innovation and social entrepreneurship (II&SE) in curricular and extracurricular activities. The InnoSocial consortium has liaised with UNWE to document their experience as a Good Practice. Tetra Solutions team conducted a series of interviews with UNWE's academic staff members to find out their expert opinion on:

European Latin American Network in Support of Social Entrepreneurs / ELANET

ELANET project has the ambition to become a leading platform in support of social entrepreneurs (SEs). It leads partner universities to implement an IT-based platform that consolidates already existing tools, resources, and coaching material for SEs. The consortium involves 4 universities from Europe (Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria and Italy) and 12 universities from Latin America (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru). The ELANET platform has seven modules: 1. Social Entrepreneurship case studies; 2. Social Entrepreneurs in need of support; 3. Support Partners; 4. Volunteers; 5. Tools for mentors; 6. Tools for Social Entrepreneurs; and 7. Library with relevant articles and books.

Social SME Academy

The Social SME Academy project aims to introduce the concept of social entrepreneurship, increase interest of young people in it and contribute to the creation of new successful social enterprises with the potential to revitalize communities and strengthen local and national economies. The project is based on an innovative methodology for start-up and early-stage enterprises, providing support and access to the world of social entrepreneurship, as a way of overcoming the crisis and create new job opportunities thanks to integration of the benefits of the Start-up Accelerator & Business Incubator Coaching Programme and the online tutorials and training materials. The consortium involves 7 organizations from Europe (Poland, Germany, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Hungary).

African Higher Education Leadership in Advancing Inclusive Innovation for Development / AHEAD

The project aims at building the capacity of Universities in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to lead and manage innovation and research that benefit societies and the national economies. In particular, it should create awareness and capacity for promoting inclusive innovation, entrepreneurship and community empowerment at local level. Project activities support universities in intensifying knowledge flows between the academia and external organizations - industry, the public sector and the community. The idea of the project is to combine a traditional focus on developing entrepreneurship & innovation skills through teaching, with a more innovative focus on opening University research to more intense cooperation with external stakeholders. This project is a joint initiative of 10 universities from East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania), 4 univeristies from Europe (Romania, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland) and an SME from Bulgaria.

The DigitalRoutes@Culture project aims to promote social entrepreneurship education, cultural awareness and digital competences in an attempt to address issues of rural development and urbanisation. Project develops an open, dynamic and interactive WEB PORTAL and MOBILE APP, which will map tangible, intangible and natural spaces of cultural heritage using augmented reality technology. Also, consortium created the CLOUD BASED e-LEARNING and e-ASSESSMENT PLATFORM, which offers various functionalities such as digital community, online assessment and validation tools. The consortium involves 7 organizations from Europe (Poland, Germany, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Hungary).

The Sound of Business

This project aims to impart competences in creating and running a business to target groups, in the first phase to trainers, and in the second phase to adults, through the creation of 4 intellectual outputs implemented through an informal approach based on the assumption that music (in particular the history of rock music) can be used as a guideline for training adults in management, business and entrepreneurship. The musical genre is not relevant to the planning of activities. In this way, the project has a greater replicability. The consortium involves 6 organizations from Europe (Slovakia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary).
